Privacy
Your data, plainly.
Last updated September 2026. Bar Crawl Golf is made by BFS Development LLC. If anything here ever stops being true, we update this page first.
21+ only
Bar Crawl Golf is for adults 21 and over. The app enforces an age gate, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 21.
What we collect
- What you give us: your display name, your scores, the rounds and tournaments you join or host, and your email address if you create an account or enter one in the feedback form or a bar-removal request.
- What the app needs to run: device identifiers required for leaderboards and achievements through Apple's Game Center.
- Location, only while you play: maps in the app are provided by Apple Maps on iPhone and by MapLibre with OpenStreetMap data on the web, and use your location to show nearby bars during a round. We don't track you between rounds.
What we do not collect
- No Google sign-in. There is no Google account, Google OAuth, or Google social login anywhere in the app or on this site.
- No social feed. The in-app social feed is deleted. Game Center leaderboards and achievements are the only social surface.
- No sale of data. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it with data brokers.
How we use it
Your data runs the game: scorecards, live leaderboards, tournament brackets, and tiebreaks. We use it for nothing else. No advertising profiles, no cross-app tracking.
Your controls
Delete the app to stop collection. To delete your account data, contact us at barcrawlgolf.xyz/contact and we'll remove it.
The native iOS app
The Bar Crawl Golf iPhone app is the full game; the website is its companion. The iOS app collects no usage data and no crash reports. During a round, the live game (roster, scores and crew chat) is stored in Supabase, scoped to a single 6-character game code. When the round finishes, each player's phone saves its own copy of the round, and the game is cleared from our servers in the hours after it ends (no sooner than two hours, so every phone has time to save it, and by the next day at the latest). A game that never finishes is cleared after a day. We keep a one-line record of each clean-up (the game code and its times, no names or scores) to confirm it ran. Crawl routes, bars and crawl ratings are kept. Your scorecards, trophy room, yearbook, stamps, achievements, and replay journal stay on your device only. Guests need no account, and signing in (Sign in with Apple or email) is optional.
During a live round, if you allow it, your location is shared with your crew on the crawl map while the app is open and the round screen is active; sharing stops when you leave the round screen. Always, when granted, lets the bar arrival and departure geofences fire while the round screen is open and the phone is locked. With When In Use location, the app sorts bars by Near Me and fetches weather for your crawl through Apple WeatherKit (falling back to Open-Meteo if WeatherKit is unavailable); your city name may be derived from your coordinates with Apple's built-in geocoder. We do not track you between rounds. The camera scans QR codes to join a crawl. When you ask the AI Planner for a route, the neighborhood and night you describe are sent to our planning service, which uses OpenStreetMap place data to build it. The calendar is read on-device to show today's tee-times and is written only when you add a crawl; the photo library saves postcards you keep and provides a camera-less proof picker. Proof images are discarded and never uploaded.
Leaderboards and achievements run on Apple Game Center under Apple's privacy policy. Tee-time and bar-move reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. The app does not receive remote push notifications, because there is no server that sends them. You can turn notifications off in iOS Settings at any time. The full iOS policy lives in the app under Settings.
